I will confide that there is no real criterion for figuring out what is the best solution, there are canons that take into account the style of the interior of the house, personal design preference, from the use and context, and finally from the environment you want to furnish.

The structure is the same for both types as well as the function and soundproofing, the most important difference lies in the covering material. The door is covered with a layer of wood/MDF that can be either painted to highlight the grain, or, LACQUERED with a covering effect. The LAMINATED door has a surface consisting of a layer of MDF covered with an additional layer of laminate that reproduces the desired finish.

Having made this small but important premise, I would say it is time to go into detail.

When is it better to choose a lacquered door or a laminated one?

Depending on material composition and processing, there are different types of laminate. One substantial difference that should not be underestimated, which affects the strength and uniqueness of the laminate door, is definitely the quality of the material.

The advantages of laminate doors, are not limited to economic ones, but are:

  • Increased resistance to wear and tear
  • Resistance to impact, scratches and stains
  • Simplicity in cleaning

Laminate doors, characterized by a material with good washability, compared to lacquered doors (which may spoil more easily and need more attention in cleaning) are definitely more practical. For example, they are suitable for environments prone to moisture, such as blind bathrooms, or nonresidential settings such as offices and stores.

The ability to choose from so many different colors has made the lacquered door the queen of decorating trends in recent years. This finishing technique allows for a compact and vibrant color declined in any shade. Therefore, it is clear that this is a solution that can adapt to any type of furniture.

Benefits and choice of lacquer shade

If you want a home with timeless elegance, light color is best, especially if you choose doors pantographed or with special decorations. Unusual, bright colors, on the other hand, are ideal if you want to add more character to the room.

If you had never heard the term “pantographing,” I could tell you that it is a modern wood engraving technique that allows any machining and engraving to be done in order to enhance the siding panel with graphic design elements and more.

The pluses of lacquered doors are thus:

  • Trending
  • Soft touch effect
  • Wide variety of colors
  • Possibility of pantography

Basically, the final choice depends on the style you want to give your home. Doors with a wood finish warm the room and can feature a variety of woods, ranging from the lightest, such as bleached oak, to the darkest; depending on the cut and structure of the door itself, they can give a more modern or retro feel. Lacquered doors are generally used in modern rooms to complement the style with their signature features.

I hope I have given you some interesting insights to guide your choice. In order to arrive at a final decision, in any case, it is essential to see with one’s own eyes several door proposals of one or the other type.
